Inspired by real events, Prakash Jha’s latest directorial venture denounces the inequalities existing in the Indian education system. In fact, expensive private institutions are the only providers of good education and the schools available to the masses are inadequate and operate erratically. Pareeksha tells the story of Buchhi (Adil Hussain), a rickshaw driver who is striving to give his son Bulbul (Shubham Jha) the best possible education. In the film, Buchii drives children from affluent homes to an expensive private English school every morning and dreams of giving his child the same education. This dream however sets him on a dangerous path, and he risks losing everything he holds dear.
