IFFI in Education: Since its inception, the festival introduced the Indian cinema programme to the local primary, secondary, film and media schools. It has created a special screening section followed by the discussions about the Indian cinema. Each year the festival select some films that reflects the education system of India and draws comparison between education in Ireland and India. It is particularly popular with the primary school children and parents who would never been exposed to an alternative Indian cinema other than American films.

This also leads to projects where school hires professional director to devise a script and involves the whole school to produce their own short film as an end of the year school entertainment project. Some third level Irish indigenous film students make excellent contacts with visiting Indian directors script writers and producers to advance their work careers.

Following are some schools involved in this initiative: The High School, Dublin, National Film School at IADT, DIT School of Media, Zion Parish Primary School.
